My removals
I've removed a large section that was devoted to names of faculty, a list of awards, and a complete list of degree programs because it seemed to be promotional (rather than encyclopedic) in tone and also seemed to me to be outside of the usual format. Following that I removed a large list of sources from the article for reasons given in the edit summaries, which were mostly to do with their being about various types of research conducted by members of the faculty, rather than about the department itself. This is actually a nontrivial distinction, because the point of a reference here is not only to establish the factual accuracy of a statement (as in a scientific paper) but also to establish whether it is notable enough for inclusion. To establish notability, there should be secondary sources talking about the department itself. Geogene (talk) 23:42, 8 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
