Quantum Computer
A quantum computer, a concept originally concieved by richard feynman, is basically a computer that instead of confining itself to the classical laws of physics, embraces the laws of quantum mechanics in order to achieve a massive increase in performance.
Whereas a normal computer would have electrons moving through one logic gate at a time, in a quantum computer laws of quantum mecanics are used in order to allow the particle to simultaniously allow many calculations to take pllace at the same place at the same time.
This would make a regualr computer look like a broken pocket calculator in comparison, and a quantum computer would bring about the following advancements:
- secure RSA encryption like that used by e-commerce or to communicate secretly would be easily broken by simply testing every single possible key simultaniously (though quantum encryption could be used to ensure secure communication)
- a totally perfect and unbeatable chess program, a program for which has already been developed by the Bell laboritory
- really awsome graphics in computer games due to almost infinite processing power
america has been supposidly been trying to make a quantum computer, but its apparently having a lot of trouble.
