An Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) is a microprocessor with both a Central Processing Unit (CPU) and a Graphics Processing Unit (GPU). They're general purpose processors that feature integrated graphics processors (IGPs). The two biggest manufacturers making APUs are AMD and Intel.
