Geylang was a short-lived constituency of the Legislative Assembly of Singapore. It came into existence in 1955[1] by the delimiting of the preceding Katong Constituency of the Legislative Council. The constituency was split into Geylang East and Geylang West at the next election, in 1959.
In 1955, the Legislative Assembly of Singapore was created with 25 elected seats. [2] This was an increase of the 9 seats in the Legislative Council of Singapore election held 4 years prior. [3].
