Spurious detection of error

Wikipedia is detecting the error where it does not exist. For example:

Some wear masks, and some don't.<ref>{{cite news |author1=Luis Ferré-Sadurní |author2=Shawn Hubler |date=June 15, 2021 |title='A Momentous Day': New York and California Lift Most Virus Restrictions |newspaper=The New York Times |url=https://www.nytimes.com/2021/06/15/nyregion/coronavirus-restrictions.html |postscript=. Article includes several pictures showing people with and without face masks.}}</ref></talk></nowiki> generates:

Some wear masks, and some don't.[1]

The error doesn't go away if |postscript= doesn't start with a period, as you can see by doing your own experiment. —Anomalocaris (talk) 22:31, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
