Secure Sockets Tunneling Protocol (SSTP) is a form of VPN tunnel that provides a mechanism to encapsulate the PPP traffic over SSL channel of HTTPS protocol. This allows VPN traffic to pass through most firewall and proxy servers. Use of PPP allows for support for common authentication methods, such as EAP-TLS. Use of HTTPS allows for firewall traversal over port 443/TCP and provides transport-level security with key-negotiation, encryption and traffic integrity checking.
