Lamiinae stubs

Yesterday this was our second largest category. It has been halved in size with a bit more work to go (and three newly oversized categories to review!). There is one genus with enough articles in this category to get a category, which will be a subcat of Category:Pteropliini stubs:

There are also a number of tribes without a permcat but based on the information in the articles these will have enough articles for categories:

Spilomelinae stubs

Currently our largest category. Giving this a good look through I have found only 1 genus that would be suitable for a category and template as there are 79 articles:

However I did also find a number of tribes that do not have permcats but based on the information in the articles and a count of the stub category would yield 60+ articles, that would bring this down a bit further and given that most of the splits are by tribe I would also like to propose the following:

Altai Krai geography stubs

Oversized, Russian Krai's are split into districts and this one has 59 districts. I propose the following templates, those districts whose articles have been disambiguated I have done so in the templates by adding ALT (hopefully caught them all without going OTT), and those that reach 60 should get a category of the form Fooian district geography stubs or Fooian district, Altai Krai geography stubs where the template has been disambiguated:

Puerto Rico geography stubs

Oversized, Puerto Rico is split into 78 municipalities and no first order split. I propose we template by municipality and merge these into senatorial districts, we then have a problem with two of the municipalities that appear to be split between two districts. My thoughts are to leave these two templates upmerged to the national geo category rather than either trying to split between the districts or merging to both. Obviously we only create categories if these pass 60.

Church of England archdeacon stubs

Oversized, none of the diocese appear to have enough articles for a category but there are two provinces both of whom would have enough articles and should split the category fairly equally between the two with very few if any left over.

2020s pop song stubs

I believe Erpert is proposing a new category and template along the lines of 2020s pop song stubs {{2020s-pop-song-stub}}. British Columbia Interior geography stubs

Another one on the oversized list. British Columbia is split into regional districts, I propose the following with categories only for those templates that pass 60 (If my quick scan is correct this will only be Cariboo):

Arkansas geography stubs

Oversized, for US States we usually split by county and upmerge to regions where counties are insufficient. I propose the following set up:

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Oversied category, partly split by district categories and templates. I notice that some districts have not been proposed in the past and one has split since they were created. I propose the following templates and categories, fed by the new as well as existing templates as follows

  • I was the creator of those district-level templates, and I didn't create one for every district because some would have only two or three locations in them. Oversized family, perm cat is not split other than geographically which I don't think we want to go down. The following appear to be viable family splits.

The article on the family polypoetas is at Polypoetes (moth), however as the article Polypoetas appears to be a disambiguation page for greek mythological figures I doubt we will have a category for them and so I have left "(moth)" off of the stub category name. Tasmania geography stubs

Tasmania is split into 29 LGA's grouped into 6 Local Government regions. Most of the articles I looked at have the LGA mentioned in the article, but not necessarily the region. I therefore propose templates by LGA upmerged to regional categories (assuming 60+ articles per region). This would mean the following once you take out spaces and punctuation and add TAS to any needing disambiguation (I think I caught them all without going OTT):

Valdez–Cordova Census Area, Alaska geography stubs

The Valdez–Cordova Census Area was split into the Chugach Census Area and the Copper River Census Area nearly two years ago. Since no one else has bothered all this time, I am attempting to organize content appropriately ahead of the anticipated 2020 Census reports. I'm not sure either new category would meet whatever threshold you're seeking, so any advice would be appreciated. Category:Alaska geography stubs exists as a catch-all in any event. Hi there - Currently it looks like Copper Creek stub articles add up to around 32, and Chugash only 2; if you're in the process of assigning permcats for the stub articles, I suggest we wait until that's done and then reassess the numbers. Her Pegship (?) 02:13, 19 December 2020 (UTC)
@Pegship:, I'm not sure how you arrived at that figure, considering that the existing Category:Valdez–Cordova Census Area, Alaska geography stubs presently contains 102 entries. In contrast to the example of Arkansas I viewed above, there was community consensus in 2016 to do away with categorization by region in the case of Alaska (see Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2016 July 18#Category:Bristol Bay Borough, Alaska geography stubs). Per that consensus, if there truly isn't enough content for two separate categories, you can at least split {{ValdezCordovaAK-geo-stub}} and use Category:Alaska geography stubs to place whatever content that remains.   • I'm copying the proposal below from CfD as relevant to this discussion; this is the first clear proposal for a split that I have found among the various discussions.
Nominator's rationale: The census area was split in 2019, but this category was never modified for some reason. Molandfreak (talk, contribs, email)

template has passed 60 and eligable for a category, however the category above is used for a continental grouping used by the ICC (international governing body). I propose using the existing category for the US players and creating a Category:ICC American cricket biography stubs or a Category:Americas cricket biography stubs. Argentine handball biography stubs

New Zealand winter sports biography stubs

We already have templates such as {{NewZealand-alpine-skiing-bio-stub}}, {{NewZealand-bobsleigh-bio-stub}}, {{NewZealand-freestyle-skiing-bio-stub}}, {{NewZealand-snowboarding-bio-stub}}, {{NewZealand-speed-skating-bio-stub}} and an undersized Category:New Zealand curling biography stubs. Sledge hockey
