Sound at end of credits

There is no visual associated with the sound, but for those who have lived in areas with frequent snowfall, the identity of the sound should be quite clear. Btimlake (talk) 15:38, 11 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

"Quite clear" is not enough for an encyclopedia. We need to rely on sources. The English subtitles for the sound heard at the end of the credits say: engine turning over, without telling us the engine of what machine. That's why I would propose changing it back to the more neutral and factual word "engine". Mark in wiki (talk) 15:43, 11 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It is possible that different versions have different sounds, which would only underscore the importance of this detail. The sound I heard is unambiguous, and the Netflix closed captions in English read “clunking” and “whirring,” which is not precise but at least accurate. The other available subtitle languages do not label the sound. Btimlake (talk) 01:56, 13 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It's worth noting that the occurrences as late as the end credits should not be dismissed as trivial, not least because the filmmaker has pointed to their importance.

“There’s actually a lot of stuff in the end credits that’s important to me,” Kaufman said. “It’s an intentional thing, the way it plays out.” Indiewire interview

The sounds are definitely a snowplow, but because the snowplow is not seen on-screen, and at this date, the subtitles do not indicate "snowplow," this description hews precisely to the subtitle descriptions as a concession to people who presumably have never heard a snowplow and would recognize this sound as such if they had.
