Windows Printing System is a piece of software from Microsoft that uses a Microsoft Windows PC to create the output for the printer. It allows lower-cost printers to be built, because all the page composition is done in the computer. It uses Windows' internal graphics display system (GDI) to prepare the output. The printer is often called a "GDI printer".
