Molecular Biology and Evolution

Molecular Biology and Evolution is a monthly journal owned and edited by The Society for Molecular Biology and Evolution and published by Oxford University Press. It publishes work that in the intersection of molecular biology and evolutionary biology. The founding editors were Walter Fitch and Masatoshi Nei; the present editor-in-chief is William Martin, Professor of Botany at the Heinrich Heine University of Düsseldorf.

In 2008, its impact factor was 7.3, up from 6.4 in 2007 and 4th of the 39 journals in the Journal Citation Reports Evolutionary Biology category.
