Dangerously in Love is the debut album by American R&B singer Beyoncé, released on June 24 2003 in the United States and June 23 2003 in the United Kingdom via Columbia Records (see 2003 in music). It features the Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles "Crazy in Love" (featuring Jay-Z) and "Baby Boy" (featuring Sean Paul), as well as the top five hits "Naughty Girl" and "Me, Myself and I". |
== |
==History== |
===Production=== |
Dangerously in Love was basically named after "all of the steps in a relationship from when you first meet a guy to ... breaking up to having to love yourself after the breakup. All of that. A celebration of love". Although most of the album's production had been partly finished and Dangerously in Love was widely expected to be released in October 2002, Columbia Records, Knowles, and her management decided to push her solo debut back to 2003 so that Destiny's Child bandmate Kelly Rowland could capitalize off of the success of her chart-topping duet with rapper Nelly, "Dilemma", in the autumn of 2002. While Knowles expressed that she felt "kind of disappointed" about the album's delay at the time, she eventually agreed to return to the recording studios to team up with a couple of other songwriters, including Rich Harrison. The producer helped adding a retro edge to the album, a sound Knowles promoted to be different from anything she had previously recorded with the band: "All of the songs I wrote for Destiny's Child were usually so strong and that's a good thing — but sometimes people lose touch with you being a human", she said. "I wanted people to know that I'm strong, but I can fall in love, I can get hurt, I can feel like I need someone and everything every other woman goes through". |
===Chart performance=== |
The album debuted and peaked at number-one for one week on the U.S. Billboard 200. It spent fifty-one weeks on the top fifty and seventy-two weeks on the top one hundred. In the UK, it also debuted (selling over 113,000 copies in its first week) and peaked at number-one for five weeks, resulting to have the most consecutive weeks to reach the top position on the albums chart for 2003. It spent fifty-four weeks on the UK Albums Chart. Knowles is the first female artist (and the fifth artist ever) to top both singles (with "Crazy in Love") and albums chart simultaneously for both the U.S. and the UK, following The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, Rod Stewart, and Men at Work. The album earned her five Grammy Awards in 2004. Also, she received over thirty winnings and more than twenty further nominations from other industry awards for the album and its accolades achievements. |
Dangerously in Love has sold over one million copies in the UK and over 200,000 copies in Canada, but is not certified as such. |
Ebenfalls kein Studiotrack ist das mit „The Hymn of Long John Silver“ betitelte Intro. |

*Skip Anderson — keyboard |
*John Broussard — bass guitar |
*Al Brown — strings |

*Phil Hamilton — guitar |

Dangerously in Love is the debut album by American R&B singer Beyoncé, released on June 24 2003 in the United States and June 23 2003 in the United Kingdom via Columbia Records (see 2003 in music). It features the Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles "Crazy in Love" (featuring Jay-Z) and "Baby Boy" (featuring Sean Paul), as well as the top five hits "Naughty Girl" and "Me, Myself and I".
History
Production
Dangerously in Love was basically named after "all of the steps in a relationship from when you first meet a guy to ... breaking up to having to love yourself after the breakup. All of that. A celebration of love".[1] Although most of the album's production had been partly finished and Dangerously in Love was widely expected to be released in October 2002,[2] Columbia Records, Knowles, and her management decided to push her solo debut back to 2003 so that Destiny's Child bandmate Kelly Rowland could capitalize off of the success of her chart-topping duet with rapper Nelly, "Dilemma", in the autumn of 2002. While Knowles expressed that she felt "kind of disappointed" about the album's delay at the time,[3] she eventually agreed to return to the recording studios to team up with a couple of other songwriters, including Rich Harrison. The producer helped adding a retro edge to the album, a sound Knowles promoted to be different from anything she had previously recorded with the band: "All of the songs I wrote for Destiny's Child were usually so strong and that's a good thing — but sometimes people lose touch with you being a human", she said. "I wanted people to know that I'm strong, but I can fall in love, I can get hurt, I can feel like I need someone and everything every other woman goes through".[3]
Chart performance
