Everett is the only city in the United States with a bicameral legislature, which is composed of a seven-member Board of Aldermen and an 18-member Common Council.

Geography

Everett is located at Vorlage:Coor dms (42.409916, -71.052206).Vorlage:GR It is bordered by Malden on the north, Revere on the east, Chelsea on the southeast, Boston and the Mystic River on the south, and Somerville and Medford on the west. Everett is 4 miles north of Boston. Glendale Park is the city's largest park.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 9.5 km² (3.7 mi²). 8.8 km² (3.4 mi²) of it is land and 0.7 km² (0.3 mi²) of it (7.63%) is water.

• Frederick Foresteire- Superintendent of Schools, his fifteen minutes of fame came when he took 2 million dollors from the special education department and allegedly spent it towards the football team. In 2009, a documentry directed by Michael Moore, titled Fraudulent Freddy will be released depicting the events.
• Dominic Rinaldi- stands 5"4, teaches freshman history at Everett High, his arch nemesis is Jonathen Axline, a student.

• Jake Falvey- In 2001, he threw a shoe at a girls face
• Timothed Aaczerorune- 93 year old resident who claims to have been abducted by an unidentified flying object in the summer of 1924. Because of this horrific incident, Aaczerorune has not been the same. He always carries around a toy shotgun and five eggs (he thinks they're grenades) no matter where he is going. He has been known to throw eggs at people who look like aliens. His mother was a third cousin, two times removed, of Theodore Roosevelt.
• Howie Dickenman- born 1930, coaches basketball at Central Connecticut State University or CCSU. He had a lifetime record of 56-345, until he finally made it to March Madness last year. His fundamentals are shooting from half-court and the "Molest" defensive scheme. The best player that Dickenman has coached is Hawisima. Hawishima has a lifetime shooting percentage of 1.7 % (all of his shots have come from halfcourt or beyond).
• Anastasium Zareh Sharan Everett ambassador to Uzbekistan. Born 1934, he is seen around the city of Yahmad telling his people of the great people of Everett. Sharan's original name is Jeff Anderson, but he changed it to his current name when he went on a spiritual journey to Uzbekistan. Every morning he wakes up and walks around the city shouting "О выучьте большого города Everett! Куда бразильянин избегают FBI и команда футбола все то дела! Отдел специального образования? То?" which means "Come learn of the great city of Everett! Where Brazilians escape the FBI and the football team is all that matters! Special Education department? Who needs that?"
• Jonathan Axline- Remarkable at his craft, funniest person ever to step ontop Everett's doorstep. Failing Abbatanozi's class at Everett High for the first year and proud. Needs more cowbell.
• Dicksen Eefus born 1956, 5th string punter of the Montreal Aloueuttes of the CFL. His best game came in 1998 when the Alouettes first, second, third, and fourth string punters tested positive for HGH and were suspended for one game. In that game, he punted twice for 20 yards, and when given the chance to kickoff, he kicked it somehow behind him out of bounds. On September 2 2006, the Alouettes rewarded Eefus's loyalty ( 20 years with the same team) with a 10 year, $20,000 contract.
• Everett School Commitee Meeting(TV SHOW)- can be seen on channel 15 every Tuesday night. Started in 1980, the show is currently the 5th longest running soap oprea in syndication. The show's style for a season is a big plot twist in the begining and end of the season. The lead character, Fred Foresteire, first appeared in the middle of 1995 season, as the new assistant superintendent. By far, the biggest plot twist involving Fred was when it was revealed that he killed the superintendent (Ep # 345, Who Shot the Superintendent?...). The show is signed on for 20 more seasons.

• Michael Jordan - Jordan was born in 1973 and is a hall of fame grave digger and reality television star. He performs his profession of grave digging at the Woodlawn Cemetery. In 2001 he was inducted into the national grave digging hall of fame. The reality shows that Jordan has starred on are The Real World, The Search for the Next Pussy Cat Doll, Fear Factor, Survivor, and America's Next Top Model. He has no relation to the basketball superstar Michael Jordan.

As of the censusVorlage:GR of 2000, there were 38,037 people, 15,435 households, and 9,554 families residing in the city. The population density was 4,345.0/km² (11,241.1/mi²). There were 15,908 housing units at an average density of 1,817.2/km² (4,701.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 79.71% White, 6.27% African American, 0.32% Native American, 3.25% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 4.99% from other races, and 5.39% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 9.51% of the population. During the last five years, there has been an influx of Brazilian residents and many Brazilian restaurants, video stores, and other establishments dot Broadway, the city's main avenue.

There were 15,435 households out of which 27.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 41.8% were married couples living together, 15.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 38.1% were non-families. 31.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.45 and the average family size was 3.11.

In the city the population was spread out with 21.6% under the age of 18, 8.9% from 18 to 24, 34.8% from 25 to 44, 19.9% from 45 to 64, and 14.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 91.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.4 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $40,661, slightly below the national average. The median income for a family is $49,876. Males had a median income of $36,047 versus $30,764 for females. The per capita income for the city was $19,845. About 9.2% of families and 11.8% of the population were below the poverty line, including 16.9% of those under age 18 and 10.0% of those age 65 or over.
