Ida Ljungqvist is a Tanzanian-born model. She is Playboy's Playmate of the Month for March 2008 and the 2009 Playmate of the Year, making history as the magazine's 50th woman to hold this title.[1]
Ljungqvist was born in Tanzania to a Tanzanian mother and a Swedish father , making her the first playmate born in Africa.[2][3] She was discovered by 2007 Playmate of the Year Sara Jean Underwood at a Bebe clothing boutique on Rodeo Drive.[4][2]
Ljungqvist co-hosted the Playboy New Years Eve Party 2009 in Miami, Florida alongside several other playmates.[5] Ljungqvist's Playmate of the Year luncheon, held on May 2, 2009, is the first to not be hosted at the Playboy Mansion. The Palms Casino Resort is the location of the 2009 luncheon.
Personal life
Due to her father's work for UNICEF, Ljungqvist traveled much as a child: in Africa she has lived in Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, South Africa, Zimbabwe; in Asia, in Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand; in Europe, in France, the U.K., Sweden, and Denmark, and currently, in the United States, in California. She speaks English, Swedish, and Swahili.[4]
Ljungqvist has earned a degree in fashion design and marketing, and plans to study economics.[2]
In December 2007 Ljungqvist married Joshua Lang. Lang filed for divorce in September 2008; in November 2008 MSNBC reported there was a custody struggle between the two of them over their pet chihuahua, Bonnie.[2]
