Diese Interpretation des Morgenthau-Plans ist nicht nur scheinheilig, sondern schlichtweg falsch. Henry Morgenthau ging es nicht um eine „positive Utopie” sondern eindeutig um die Bestrafung Deutschlands und nicht nur des Nationalsozialistischen Deutschlands unter Adolf Hitler.

Der gesamte Abschnitt mit seinen "Stimmen zum Plan" ignoriert den damaligen Wahlkampf und die damalige innenpolitische Situation der USA. Dadurch wird ein ziemlich seltsames Bild gezeichnet. Der Morgenthau-Plan war nämlich überhaupt nur wenige Tage in der öffentlichen Diskussion. Er war geheim, wurde aber gezielt für den Wahlkampf in der Öffentlichkeit lanciert und von Roosevelt dann sofort zurückgezogen. Danach war wieder Schicht und alles vorbei. Gegen diese wenigen Tage, in denen es überhaupt amerikanische Stimmen zu dem Plan gab, stehen Jahrzehnte rechtsradikaler Propaganda in Deutschland, die mit diesem Plan Stimmung gegen die Amerikaner machen. Ich sehe keine Rettungsmöglichkeit für diesen Abschnitt, habe aber erstmal ein Warnzeichen "Neutralität" gesetzt Wer mag, kann sich ja dran versuchen. Sonst lösche ich ihn weg. Hier steht nicht seriöse Tatsachenerforschung im Vordergrund, sondern ein ins Denksystem von politischen Psychopathen vorgefaßtes Urteil, das durch keinerlei gegensätzliche Beweislage erschüttert werden kann. Hoover Statement, Jahre nachdem der Morgenthau-Plan an acta gelegt wurde, ist ein Beispiel dafür wie der Morgenthau-Plan für propagandistische Zwecke benutzt wurde. Hier wird diese Propaganda wiederholt, aber nicht kenntlich gemacht. Wenn diese Passage nicht verbesssert wird und das Zitat nicht in den dazugehörenden Zusammenhang inneramerikanischer Geschichte gestellt wird, fliegt es ganz einfach als irrelevant wieder heraus. Mit propagandistischen Statements aller Schattierungen aus vielen Jahren, die sich alle auch belegen lassen, kann man den Artikel nämlich zumüllen. :Zum einen ist das Hoover-Zitat in Anführungszeichen gesetzt und ist damit eindeutig gekennzeichnet. Zwar ist es richtig, das Morgenthaus Plan ab 1944 nicht mehr weiter verfolgt wurde, sein 1945 veröffentlichtes Buch macht deutlich, daß er sich selbst noch nicht damit abgefunden hat. Wenn also Hoover zwei Jahre später erneut vor einem Umbau Deutschlands in einen Agrarstaat warnte, geht das auf eine intensive Lobbyarbeit Morgenthaus zurück. Der Zusammenhang ist also gegeben, gehört allerdings, wie von dir bemerkt, besser herausgestellt.
