Finlayson wurde 1895 in [[Lochcarron]], [[Wester Ross]], geboren. Seine Eltern waren ''Roderick Finlayson'' (1847-1895) und ''Christina MacLennan'' (1853-1944). He was born in [[Lochcarron]], [[Wester Ross]] in 1895. The son of Roderick Finlayson (1847-1895) and his wife, Christina MacLennan (1853-1944). He was ordained in 1922 and became minister of [[Urray]] on the [[Black Isle]]. From there he moved to the Hope Street (Gaelic) Free Church in [[Glasgow]], before becoming Professor of Systematic Theology at Edinburgh in 1945. Roderick Alick Finlayson (* 1895; † 1989) war ein schottischer Geistlicher der Free Church of Scotland. Er war 1945 Moderator der General Assembly der Church of Scotland. Als Verfasser ist er gewöhnlich mit der Abkürzung R. A. Finlayson bezeichnet.[1]

Leben

Finlayson wurde 1895 in Lochcarron, Wester Ross, geboren. Seine Eltern waren Roderick Finlayson (1847-1895) und Christina MacLennan (1853-1944). Sein Vater starb im Jahr seiner Geburt.[2] Im Ersten Weltkrieg war er als Soldat in Frankreich und in Flandern. Nach dem Krieg studierte er Divinity am Free Church College in Edinburgh. Er wurde 1922 ordiniert und trat eine Stelle als Minister in Urray in the Black Isle an. Von dort ging er an die Hope Street (Gaelic) Free Church in Glasgow, bevor er 1945 Reverend Professor für Systematische Theologie in Edinburgh wurde. Im selben Jahr wurde er als Moderator der General Assembly der Church of Scotland gewählt.[3][4] Er war Nachfolger von Ewen MacRury.[5] Er war zudem Herausgeber der Zeitschrift “Free Church Monthly Record” und gehörte zu den Begründern des Scottish Tyndale Fellowship, welcher zur Scottish Evangelical Theological Society wurde.[6]
