IMG Academy is an athletic training center in Bradenton, Florida. The academy offers programs for tennis, golf, baseball, basketball, lacrosse, soccer, football and athletic and personal development. IMG attracts more than 12,000 athletes from approximately 80 countries every year.

History

In 1978, tennis coach Nick Bollettieri set up the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy. A decade later, sports and entertainment company IMG purchased the academy. IMG has since expanded the campus, which sits on Vorlage:Convert acres of land.

Each year, students attend weekly camp programs or are enrolled in full-time programs. Full-time students attend the IMG Pendleton school on campus for their academic studies. Apart from its work with youth, IMG Academy provides a destination for professional athletes to improve their game.

• Renaldo Balkman, An American professional basketball player, formerly of the University of South Carolina, currently playing for the Denver Nuggets of the NBA. Was traded to New York Knicks in 2011.
• Michael Beasley, currently plays forward for the Minnesota Timberwolves, drafted in the 1st round (2nd overall) in 2008 by the Miami Heat.
• Erick Dampier, An American professional basketball player who last played for the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA and is currently with the Miami Heat.
• Taurean Green, currently plays point guard in Spain for CB Gran Canaria, drafted in the 2nd round (52nd overall) in 2007 by the Portland Trail Blazers. Also played for the Denver Nuggets.

• Björn Borg, A former World No. 1 tennis player from Sweden; he won a record five consecutive Wimbledon singles titles and is considered to be one of the greatest tennis players of all time.
• Brian Gottfried, Player from the United States who won 25 singles titles and 54 doubles titles during his professional career. The right-hander reached his highest ranking on the Association of Tennis Professionals tour on June 19, 1977, when he became World # 3.
• Pete Sampras, Retired American tennis player and former World No. 1. He won 14 Grand Slam men's singles titles during his 15-years tour career, and he is one of the greatest tennis players.
• Tommy Haas, German-American professional tennis player who reached a career-high ranking of World No.2 on May 13, 2002.
• Martina Hingis, Retired professional tennis player who spent a total of 209 weeks as World No. 1. She won five Grand Slam singles titles (three Australian Opens, one Wimbledon, and one US Open).
