Der Felsenpython (früher Python sebae) wurde 1999 in zwei Arten aufgeteilt:
- Nördlicher Felsenpython (Python sebae)
- Südlicher Felsenpython (Python natalensis)
Mit dem wissenschaftlichen Namen Python sebae wird heute nur der Nördliche Felsenpython bezeichnet.
