The proof that f' = 0 implies f = 0 was also made clearer, I don't think vague descriptions like "y needs to be in small enough neighbourhood of x" are enough. Its better to be explicit. undo

  • curprev 19:2319:23, 7 September 2024 98.193.42.97 talk 39,863 bytes +681 Formal statement: Since WP:VERIFY applies to WP:Project Maths, we note the need to state from which published source this formal presentation is drawn (and that some further citations may be needed, if all the generalisations are not drawn from the same source). Also, that the two figures do not mirror the "Formal statement" section contents, but rather add to them. And as textual additions making non-sky-is-blue factual claims, they too require sources per WP:VERIFY. undo Tag: Reverted
  • curprev 19:0819:08, 7 September 2024 98.193.42.97 talk 39,182 bytes +2,512 Completed the Besenyei citation. Did a first pass at addressing the lead's "so what" question, in a manner understandable to a college educated individual not in STEM—also with a view that the lead is supposed to summarise the article (hence addition defining f', mentioning Cauchy (1823), etc.). undo Tag: Reverted
  • curprev 18:0618:06, 7 September 2024 98.193.42.97 talk 36,670 bytes +1,021 Added a Note to lead explaining intervals jargon; in presenting to non-STEM audiences, we find necessary to add that footnote content so open, closed difference is grasped. (If intention is that this is a place for mathematicians to talk among themselves, feel free, revert.) Also lead doesn't follow WP:INTRO, fails to summarise article. Enfin, in the superb fig. accompanying the definition, naming the source of the presentation allows students to pursue, learn more, and editors to check content. undo Tag: Reverted
