For instance, if the daily backups are rotated daily, it means that the backup you are performing at any moment is overwriting the copy and, if something goes wrong during the operation, in the worst of cases, all copies would be lost. Therefore you need at least double the time, so to keep always an additional copy. Therefore, the GFS cycles were changed to 90 days, 6 months and 1 year respectively. undo
