Formats in defunct stations?
You said for quite a few defunct stations that it has been recently decided not to put “defunct” as the format. When & where was this decided, by whom? It makes no logical sense for a defunct radio station to have a format, as it no longer has a license. Thanks in advance for letting me know where I can find out where & when this was decided. Stereorock (talk) 14:04, 2 February 2025 (UTC)
- There hasn't been any discussion or other centralized spot that led to this, at least to my knowledge. Rather, I recently noticed that Sammi Brie, who in recent years has been working to significantly improve the quality of broadcast station articles, removed "defunct" notations from the format field of the infoboxes in KSWH-LP, WPJB, and KLOA-LP earlier this month, saying
defunct is not a format
; in at least this first case, this was part of an overall cleanup of infobox clutter. She might have more to say about this than I could possibly provide; I've simply gone along with this idea, since the presence of any "last airdate" field (and past tense in the article lead, etc.) generally makes it clear if the subject station is defunct. WCQuidditch ☎ ✎ 19:50, 2 February 2025 (UTC) - @Stereorock, consider infoboxes about other kinds of no-longer-extant entities (these are random examples):
- A defunct railway station infobox might list the number of platforms, e.g. Charlton Kings railway station. There is no longer a station on the site or platforms. Do we list "Defunct" as the number of platforms?
- An article on a deceased person might list an infobox, e.g. Philip W. Anderson (film editor). Is his occupation "Deceased" now that he's no longer working?
- Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 20:00, 2 February 2025 (UTC)
- Sammi Brie, Wcquidditch The defunct railroad station has a status field as “disused”, which would be equivalent to defunct. Also, radio stations usually have several formats throughout their histories, so it may not always be a news/talk station, for example. To me, a better solution is to strike the format field altogether. Stereorock (talk) 22:16, 2 February 2025 (UTC)

| Your ongoing efforts to improve the encyclopedia have not gone unnoticed: You have been selected as Editor of the Week in recognition of your great contributions! (courtesy of the Wikipedia Editor Retention Project) |
User:QuicoleJR submitted the following nomination for Editor of the Week:
- The deletion sorting pages are very useful for tracking articles for deletion in specific topic areas. However, these pages are only useful if people list the relevant AFDs. One editor, Wcquidditch, does just that. With his over 100,000 edits, Wcquidditch has added countless AFDs to the relevant sorting pages, making it easier for other editors to watch the AFDs that interest them. These efforts easily qualify him for this award. This nomination was seconded by Queen of Hearts

How to speedy delete
Hey, sorry to bother you. I wanna ask, how can a page be deleted as soon as possible? Because the page Kupiansk Offensive that I nominated was actually meant for Draft:Kupiansk Offensive. But it seems a new Wikipedia user accidentally created the main page instead. Now, the Draft:Kupiansk Offensive can’t be moved to Kupiansk Offensive since the page already exists. Thank you Bukansatya (talk) 01:24, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
- In and of itself, I don't think anything in the speedy deletion criteria would by itself apply in such a conflict; the AfD you started would have to play out. That said, Bcom123 (talk · contribs), the creator of the mainspace version, did make a comment there that could make the G7 criterion applicable (the only edit to the article other than their creation was the AfD tag), though they might have to be the one to tag it as such. That's the best I have to offer here (I mostly do delsorting and other gnomish tasks at AfD, and tend not to be involved with draftspace/AfC at all). WCQuidditch ☎ ✎ 04:28, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks beforehand for taking your time for me, but honestly, I'm sorry I don't really get what you explained because this is my first time dealing with something like this. From what I understand, at least if the page creator agrees and/or the creator marks the page with a G7 tag, the speedy delete process can be done, right? Oh yeah, I also wanna ask, roughly how many votes are needed for a page to be deleted? Bukansatya (talk) 06:32, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
- As best I can tell, your understanding with regard to G7 appears to be correct. As for your second question, discussions such as at AfD are not supposed to be about "voting" despite any appearances to the contrary, and closures can be based more on the quality of the comments and less on simply vote-counting; at times, there may be no consensus, even if it appears one side has more "votes". (There are also procedures for when there are few or no comments, which in uncontroversial cases can still lead to deletion, but with two bolded comments already this probably will not come into play.) WCQuidditch ☎ ✎ 23:01, 19 April 2025 (UTC)
- Alright, I think I kinda get it now. Thanks for taking the time to respond to me Bukansatya (talk) 17:55, 20 April 2025 (UTC)

Request for Guidance on WKLR-FM (Toledo, Ohio) History
Hello Wcquidditch,
Thank you for the time and care you’ve taken reviewing and refining the WKLR and WKKO Wikipedia pages. I truly appreciate your role in upholding Wikipedia’s standards.
I’m reaching out respectfully regarding the content recently removed about **WKLR-FM in Toledo, Ohio**. I worked at the station in **1967** as an on-air DJ under the name *Motivating Mark Lawrence*. During that time, WKLR-FM was broadcasting soul and R&B music as “Super Soul KLR” and later became known as “KOOLER Radio.” The station played a pioneering role in Toledo’s African-American radio landscape and eventually evolved into WKKO.
My intent is not to self-promote, but rather to ensure this important chapter of Toledo’s cultural and broadcasting history is accurately documented. I now understand some of the original material may have lacked proper sourcing or neutrality — and I respect that entirely.
I’d be sincerely grateful for your guidance on how to correctly format and source a page titled **WKLR-FM (Toledo, Ohio)**, so it meets Wikipedia’s standards while still acknowledging the DJs and programming that defined that era. I’m happy to provide third-party citations from FCC records, WKKO’s own historical references, the Toledo Library blog, and potentially archived Toledo Blade articles.
If you have a moment, I’d truly welcome your input on how we might preserve this legacy the right way — or if you’d be open to collaboration.
With thanks and appreciation,
- Mark Lawrence Vosko**

Deletion sorting lists topics
Hi, I saw that you added the AFD for Paul Rogat Loeb to several topical lists. It seems to me that it would be helpful to have such a list for Activism. But the DSL project/talk pages don't really explain how to go about creating a new list. I thought perhaps you could help. Thanx. Anomalous+0 (talk) 03:44, 21 June 2025 (UTC)
- Hello again. Can I go ahead and set up a list for Activism, or do I need to get permission - and how would that be done? Anomalous+0 (talk) 02:21, 22 June 2025 (UTC)
- I've never yet really attempted to set up any new lists and am not the best person to ask on this with regard to the technical side of things. I can say, based on the WikiProject talk page archive, that there does not appear to be any formal process per se, despite all the requests that have been made there. Speedy deletion nomination of WFAB

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on WFAB requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, a group of people, an individual animal, an organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content, or an organized event that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
