| Welcome to Northernhenge's talk page. I will generally respond here to comments that are posted here, rather than replying via your talk page (or the article's talk page, if you are writing to me here about an article), so you may want to watch this page until you are responded to, or let me know where specifically you'd prefer the reply. |
New pages feed
[edit]Hello. First of all, thanks for your addition to Clays (company) - I have not got round to actually watching the program yet! Second, I saw that you recently noted that you'd got hooked on Special:NewPagesFeed, and wondered whether you'd considered joining WP:NPP. We're sorely in need of new reviewers, so please do give it some thought, and let me know if you have any questions. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 23:56, 11 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hi SunloungerFrog. It's good to hear from you and thanks for suggesting NPP. I thought about it a while ago and realised that
- I'm not a very good gatekeeper – even if I see an article that's nowhere near ready, my instinct is just to try to improve it a bit, though I did once get one draftified.
- Currently I get a bit frustrated when editors create pages that need more work but never return to them. I'd want to understand that a bit better before I did too much NPP work. I could imagine using NPP to deal with articles which had been created and then abandoned for a while.
- I occasionally feel slightly guilty that I signed up as a pending changes reviewer but now hardly spend any time there.
- I'll consider NPP for a little longer, read the instructions, and consider signing up.--Northernhenge (talk) 10:38, 12 March 2025 (UTC)
- Hey, I see you've joined the gang! Welcome to NPP. I'm sure you'll be fine, but give me a shout if you have any questions. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 18:19, 1 August 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, thanks for the prompt back in March. I’m sure I’ll be in touch! --Northernhenge (talk) 18:50, 1 August 2025 (UTC)

My error, mistaking the text for a quotation
[edit]My mistake. I had thought the text had been a quotation. Sorry. Pete unseth (talk) 19:19, 2 May 2025 (UTC)
- No worries. The article did hint that it was a quotation. --Northernhenge (talk) 19:40, 2 May 2025 (UTC)
Governors of Lower Austria
[edit]Technically pre-1918 governors of Lower Austria are politicians from Austria-Hungary, after 1918 they are Austrian politicians. However if we have any pre-1867 people they are politicians from the Austrian Empire, and pre-1805 (or so, the Austrian Empire and the Holy Roman Empire co-existed for about 2 years) thry would be politicians from the Holy Roman Empire.John Pack Lambert (talk) 12:38, 28 June 2025 (UTC)
- The list article seems to indicate we currently have 4 articles on people who were governors of Lower Austria when it was part of the Holy Roman Empire. It also breaks the list in the 1750s for no clear reason. Only 1 of them is currently in this category. We only currently have 1 article on a governor during the period of the Austrian Empire. We have 3 on governors during the period of Austria-Hungary. Is this a position that is considered default notable under NPOL? If so, there are enough people in each time frame to probably justify 4 seperate categories. I am not sure creating several more articles is the wisest option. Do we group governors of Colonial Virginia and governors of the state of Virginia all in 1 Category? We do not. So I think in a case like this we should have 4 seperate categories. The pre-1918 should probably be Governors of Lower Austria (Austria-Hungary); Governors of Lower Austria (Austrian Empire) and Governors of Lower Austria (Holy Roman Empire). I am also thinking that in a case of government office like this we should not directly place people in a not differentiated by government thry served Category. So for now the Governors of Lower Austria (Austrian Empire) should be upmerged to Politicians from the Austrian Empire (maybe we should make Category:Governors in the Austrian Empire or something similar, is there are word for the places these governors in the Empire were governing? Lands? Provinces? I am not sure).John Pack Lambert (talk) 12:51, 28 June 2025 (UTC)
- Hi John Pack Lambert. The comparison with governors of Colonial Virginia and governors of the state of Virginia makes good sense. I suggest you go ahead and add your comments to Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2025 June 25. --Northernhenge (talk) 15:01, 28 June 2025 (UTC)
New page reviewer granted
[edit]
Hi Northernhenge, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the new page reviewer user right to your account. This means you now have access to the page curation tools and can start patrolling pages from the new pages feed. If you asked for this at requests for permissions, please check back there to see if your access is time-limited or if there are other comments.
This is a good time to re-acquaint yourself with the guidance at Wikipedia:New pages patrol. Before you get started, please take the time to:
- Add Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers to your watchlist to follow NPP-related discussions
- If you use Twinkle, configure it to log your CSDs and PRODs
- If you can read any languages other than English, add yourself to the list of reviewers with language proficiencies
You can find a list of other useful links and tools for patrollers at Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Resources. If you are ever unsure what to do, ask your fellow patrollers or just leave the page for someone else to review – you're not alone! signed, Rosguill talk 17:40, 1 August 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for adding me. I'll start re-reading. --Northernhenge (talk) 17:57, 1 August 2025 (UTC)

Machine translation
[edit]Hello @Northernhenge, I am contacting you regarding this user's latest contributions as mentioned in the talk page here. This user is participating in the ongoing contest of Emirati Women's Day 2025 on the Arabic Wikipedia, which began on September 3 and ends today. The contest includes an award for articles written in any of the UN's six languages. I believe his user depends on machine translation due to his poor English, and this is why he/she doesn't respond to any discussion appropriately. You can notice that all of his/her articles in English before September 3 are deleted mostly for these reasons. Therefore, I request you and others to carefully review and verify his/her latest articles and contributions. I also want to mention that I requested from an administrator at Arabic Wikipedia to check his/her user account since I believe he/she are two people with multiple accounts working to create articles at the time of contests only. Thank you and best regards.--Amr F.Nagy (talk) 00:45, 13 September 2025 (UTC)
- Hello @Amr F.Nagy. Thanks for letting me know. I thought the article might be written as part of a campaign, but it did not seem to have even a basic knowledge of the history of the UAE. I see they have now added some further sources, but they’ve misunderstood the only one I’ve just checked. (It was about Arab participants in general, not UAE specifically.) --Northernhenge (talk) 09:01, 13 September 2025 (UTC)
