Introduction to contentious topics
[edit]You have recently edited a page related to the region of South Asia (India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal), broadly construed, including but not limited to history, politics, ethnicity, and social groups, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practices;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Additionally, you must be logged in, have 500 edits, and have an account age of 30 days in order to make edits related to two subtopics: (1) Indian military history, or (2) social groups, explicitly including caste associations and political parties related to India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Hello, IronKeyboard, welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. Your editing pattern indicates that you may be using multiple accounts or coordinating editing with people outside Wikipedia. Our policy on multiple accounts usually does not allow this, and users who misuse multiple accounts may be blocked from editing. If you operate multiple accounts directly or with the help of another person, please disclose these connections. Please be aware of WP:PROJSOCK. - @IronKeyboard: It is fairly obvious you have two other undisclosed accounts. Note that this is almost always against policy, especially if you use one of these accounts to file reports at ANI. Anyway, if you need any help with editing or with policy, feel free to ask me or at the Teahouse. Children Will Listen (🐄 talk, 🫘 contribs) 23:57, 26 November 2025 (UTC)
- Hi ChildrenWillListen-
- Thanks for this info, it is helpful. I did read through all the policies you linked and I can assure you I am not in violation of any of them. Again thanks for these resources, there is a lot of good info there and I will use it to continue following and upholding Wikipedia’s policies and guidelines in the future as well. Introduction to contentious topics
[edit]You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

- @IronKeyboard: You only have 107 edits so far, so you can't edit in this topic area. Children Will Listen (🐄 talk, 🫘 contribs) 17:19, 28 November 2025 (UTC)
- Hi ChildrenWillListen, thanks for letting me know. I misread the page tag, seeing only that it was Semi-Protected. Thanks for your help! IronKeyboard (talk) 17:23, 28 November 2025 (UTC)
- You're good. Due to extreme amounts of disruption in this topic area, ArbCom has put this extended confirmed restriction in place to dissuade sockpuppetry. Children Will Listen (🐄 talk, 🫘 contribs) 17:28, 28 November 2025 (UTC)
- Ah thanks! I was looking over those links you sent. Is there a way to know when part of a page has special rules when the whole page has more relaxed rules (like semi protection)?
- Is there a rule of thumb or a good way to avoid issues? Does it actually relate to the content of the edit you make rather than the section of a page? (This appears to be what the policy says). If this is the case, how does one know when the content of an edit falls within a protected area? Are these topics clearly defined somewhere? For example, do all edits on antisemitism globally (general hate directed at Jewish people) fall within the PIA topic area? IronKeyboard (talk) 18:23, 28 November 2025 (UTC)
Does it actually relate to the content of the edit you make rather than the section of a page?
: Yes, it applies when you add, modify, or remove something related to the topic area, regardless of what the page is about.how does one know when the content of an edit falls within a protected area?
: Topic restrictions are broadly construed, so as for WP:CT/A-I, assume that anything related to Israel and Palestine is covered by it. Zionism falls under this topic area, and the IHRA definition of antisemitism probably does as well. Antisemitism that doesn't relate to the Arab-Israeli conflict does not. In case of doubt just assume it is. Children Will Listen (🐄 talk, 🫘 contribs) 18:35, 28 November 2025 (UTC)- Ah thanks for clearing that up! The policy you showed me seems to say that in cases like these it is best to make an edit request on the Talk Page, so I started a proposal (to first build consensus before the official request) over there. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge! IronKeyboard (talk) 19:09, 28 November 2025 (UTC)

Blocked as a sockpuppet
[edit]Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.
If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you should review the guide to appealing blocks, and then appeal your block by adding the following text below this notice:
{{unblock|Your reason here ~~~~}}. Note that anything you post in your unblock request will be public, so you may alternatively use the Unblock Ticket Request System to submit an appeal if it contains information that must be private.Administrators: Checkusers have access to confidential system logs not accessible by the public or by administrators due to the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy. You must not loosen or remove this block, or issue an IP block exemption, without consulting with a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee. Administrators who undo checkuser blocks without permission from a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee may be summarily desysopped.
