Susana Saéz-Díez Reberdito (born 25 November 1962) is a Spanish visual artist.
Life
[edit]Susana Reberdito was born in San Sebastián, Spain, and grew up in Plasencia and Santander, Spain, where she moved In 1974 with her family.
From 1980 to 1984 she studied drawing and painting at the studios of Xesús Vázquez and Esteban de la Foz. She began university studies in 1982. In 1985 she moved to Madrid to finish her major in Art History, graduating with a Licenciatura degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in 1988.
From 1987 to 1993 attended the "Contemporary Art Workshops" at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, held among others by Juan Navarro Baldeweg (1987), José Luis Alexanco (1988), Jiri G. Doukoupil (1989), Soledad Sevilla (1989), and Magdalena Abakanowicz (1993). In 1988-1989 she lived in Tokyo, Japan. In 1990, after winning a public contest, she painted the mural at the Sala Griega of the Palacio de Festivales de Santander working closely with the architect of the building Francisco Javier Sáenz de Oiza. From 1990 to 1992 she lived and worked in the United States taking courses as a graduate student with Don Demouro, Ed Wilson, and Angelo Ippolito at the State University of New York at Binghamton. From 1994 to 1996 she did several independent studies in printmaking with Joan Barbará at the Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró a Mallorca.
Since 1995 Susana Reberdito lives and works between Spain and Germany.

[edit]“[...] El resultado es de una eficacia casi mural. En la pintura de Susana Reberdito siempre ha habido una monumentalidad muy poderosa, desde sus figuras danzantes de la Sala Griega del Palacio de Festivales de Santander hasta estos océanos, incluso en la serie de pequeño formato. Parece extraño llamar “océano” a una pieza de 30 x 32 cm, pero en realidad el efecto monumental no disminuye en absoluto en esta serie pequeña, si acaso se acentúa. En ella todo se concentra en el encuentro entre dos consistencias, la sustancia más densa del agua y la más leve y transparente de la nube. En Océano 2, el encuentro es un roce entre el mar que se hincha y la nube caliente que se desliza sobre él, un roce a punto de convertirse en abrazo amoroso. Entre los océanos pequeños, quizá los más sorprendentes son esos donde el fondo negro permite percibir las transparencias variables de las grandes pinceladas de azul, como si la luz estival se disolviera en la oscuridad de la noche. Pero la sensación final que la obra de Reberdito comunica no es de disolución, sino de plenitud. La ola y la montaña, el mar y la nube, el agua y la pintura identificados en una pura exaltación vital, en una celebración de la vida, con una intensa emoción sensual y casi religiosa al mismo tiempo.” [1]
