Notes

  • 1889 - orginally known as Coldwater Fair
  • 1891 - organized as private corp. -- Neshoba County Stock and Agricultural Fair Association; moved to present site + charged admission
  • 1894 - pavilion, hotel constructed; cabins added
  • 1896 - governor McLaurin speaks, becomes a political forum
  • 1898 - oak trees planted in Founder's Square
  • 1914 - improvements and additions to the grounds + race track added
  • 1939 - electricity
  • 1946 - fair inactive during WWII, reopens 1946; more cabins built, fair becomes 7 day schedule and brings entertainment stars
