New Spencer Sunshine book

[edit]

LARB review here.[1] I thought the description of how Siege stayed alive in the 90s, the role of Adam Parfrey etc. was interesting. Hopefully someone will read the book and incorporate that content into the article at some point Prezbo (talk) 00:34, 15 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Edition & cover

[edit]

Generally we use the cover for the most notable edition. I don't think this one is it. PARAKANYAA (talk) 20:16, 27 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I fumbled, I just uploaded the cover I could find. I would think the most popular cover is the one with the stylished lightning. I will try to find it.RKT7789 (talk) 06:02, 28 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Edition covers

[edit]

We should probably use the first edition, or alternatively the most notable one; despite the comment above this one is pretty recent. However, since this an often-illicit Nazi book banned from every sales website, and since this book has many editions, and many editions which do not adhere to the "numbering" of the editions, it is often hard to provenance which edition is which. Here is my attempt to figure out which edition has which cover for future reference and for figuring out which one we should use.

Edition

  • 1th (1992) - According to Sunshine it literally just said the word Siege in red with a black background. I have not managed to find any picture or copy of this edition. This is similar to, but different from what we are using now; apparently the shield was only on the back in the original. Google Books has the title page [2] but not the cover. Edit: After writing out all the rest of this, I found these versions of the original edition cover on a sales site [3] [4]
  • 2th (2003) - According to Sunshine, one is the cover that has a 9/11 photo with the words "SIEGE" in red.
  • 3th (2015) - The Iron March edition. Orange fires and figures in front of the fire. This is the cover we used to use before I complained above. There may be multiple different versions of this?
  • 4th (2018) - Black red and white figures in skull masks, with the Dark Foreigner illustrations
  • 5th (2021) - The "Final" edition". Also Dark Foreigner illustrations, cover is a hand holding the Universal Order logo. The physical edition of this version uses the cover we are using now. I think.
  • 6th or the "666" edition (2023) - According to sunshine, this exists. This one was denounced by Mason and itself denounces Mason [5]. This one has a black and red thing with a bunch of people and the thunderbolt symbol

So, we are using the cover of the 5th edition's physical print, which is not the most notable one. It is also not from the "pocket edition". In conclusion I am going to rip the cover of the first edition from that sales site. Also, that original cover is {{PD-simple}}, so it can go on commons.
