Tripleseat is a U.S.-based developer of a sales and event management software platform designed for restaurants, hotels, and unique venues. It aims to streamline the booking and management of private events, group sales, and catering. It provides tools for lead generation and management, event booking, event management, customer relationship management, event payment processing, floor planning, and event reporting.
== History == Tripleseat was founded in 2008 by Jonathan Morse and Kevin Zink.[1] Morse, who had previously worked in sales for Starwood Hotels and as a VP for a hospitality-focused business intelligence company, was inspired to create the platform after a personal experience with a booking error at a hotel that was still using paper-based systems.[2] Morse, with a background in hotel sales, identified the market need, while Zink led the platform's technical development.
The company was founded to provide a web-based, software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution to replace the pen-and-paper or spreadsheet-based methods commonly used by restaurants and smaller venues to manage private events. The name Tripleseat was reportedly inspired by the restaurant term “triplesat,” which refers to a server being assigned three new tables in their section at once — a sign of bustling, profitable business.
In December 2010, Tripleseat raised an initial $500K from Dundee Venture Capital.[3] In June 2017, they secured $7 million in a Series A round led by Level Equity.[4] In December 2018, another Series A round brought in $2 million.[5]
In February 2020, Tripleseat was acquired by Vista Equity Partners and merged with Gather, which was already owned by Vista Equity Partners, forming a combined company that operates under the Tripleseat brand.[6] This move was supported by Vista's Endeavor Fund and Enlightened Hospitality Investments (EHI), the growth equity fund affiliated with Danny Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group. Level Equity remained a significant shareholder in the combined business.[7]
In April 2023, Tripleseat received a growth investment from General Atlantic, a global growth equity firm. Existing shareholders Vista Equity Partners, Level Equity, and Enlightened Hospitality Investments remained as minority investors.[8][9][10] In August 2023, Tripleseat acquired Attendease, a company specializing in meeting and event software for enterprise and corporate event planners. This acquisition allowed Tripleseat to expand its offerings to support more complex and large-scale events with advanced registration and automation tools.[11] In June 2024, Tripleseat acquired Merri (also known as BeMerri), an event floor plan and 3D event design platform. This acquisition added integrated tools for creating and visualizing event layouts.[12]
Jonathan Morse served as the company's CEO from its founding until 2024, when Michelle Fischer was appointed as the new CEO.[13] Kevin Zink remains as the Principal Engineer as of October 2025.[14]
== Software and Services == The Tripleseat platform is a cloud-native SaaS application. Its core features include customizable lead forms, document generation for proposals and Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), and a guest-facing portal for electronic signatures and payments. The platform integrates with third-party systems, including payment gateways, point-of-sale (POS) systems, property management systems (PMS), and email marketing platforms.
