Run Katie Run is an American Americana and roots-rock band from Atlanta, Georgia, formed in 2019. The group is fronted by singer-songwriter Katie Coleman and is known for its blend of rock, folk, and Americana influences, characterized by emotionally direct songwriting and dynamic vocal arrangements.[1]
History
[edit]Run Katie Run was founded in 2019 by Katie Coleman, who had previously performed as a solo artist in Georgia’s Americana circuit.[2] The lineup includes Coleman (vocals, guitar), Stephen Quinn (bass), Adam Pendlington (guitar, banjo), and Ian Pendlington (drums).[2]
The band released its debut EP, Running on Love, in 2021.[3] The EP drew positive attention from independent music outlets for its stylistic range, combining elements of pop, folk, and blues.[3]
In 2023, the band released its first full-length album, Cowboy Boots with Fishnet Tights.[4] Critics praised the record for its energetic roots-rock arrangements and the interplay between Coleman’s lead vocals and harmonies from the band.[4] Take Effect Reviews described the album as “a dynamic mix of twang, roots-rock, and introspective songwriting.”[5]
In 2024, the band was featured on Atlanta public radio station WABE, where Coleman described their music as “roots rock … but mainly because we don’t really stick to a certain genre.”[6]
Musical style
[edit]Run Katie Run’s sound incorporates Americana, folk rock, and blues influences. Critics have noted the group’s emphasis on lyrical storytelling, vocal harmonies, and genre fluidity.[1] American Songwriter characterized their work as “a singular force of energy and power,” while Americana Highways praised their “rootsy yet contemporary” approach.[4]
