Resplendent Ceylon is a collection of Relais & Châteaux properties in Sri Lanka owned by the Fernando Family, who own Dilmah Tea. [1]
Merrill J. Fernando started Resplendent Ceylon with his two sons Malik and Dilhan[2], in 2005. Malik J. Fernando currently serves as the chair. [3]
The first resort was Ceylon Tea Trails in 2005[4], located in Hatton, Sri Lanka, part of the Central Highlands of Sri Lanka, a UNESCO world heritage site. The resort was also featured in Amazing Hotels by BBC.[5] The resort was also the first in Sri Lanka to get selected to Relais & Châteaux in 2011. [6]
Cape Weligama, opened in 2014[7] in Weligama, an area known for Surfing and was recently renovated in 2024.[8]
Wild Coast Tented Lodge opened in 2017 [9] adjacent to Yala National Park, and the area is known for a high density of Sri Lankan leopard, sloth bear and many other species.
The resorts have been consistently recognized by Condé Nast Traveler including in it's prestigious gold list [10], Forbes[11] and other luxury publications.
