Luke Williams is an Australian-born author, inventor, and professor at the New York University Stern School of Business. He is known for his work on disruptive innovation and is the author of Disrupt: Think the Unthinkable to Spark Transformation in Your Business.

Career

From 2001 to 2009, Williams served in various leadership roles—from Creative Director to Global Lead of Innovation Strategy—at global creative and design firm Frog, where he continues to act as Fellow.

In 2010, Williams published his book,Disrupt: Think the Unthinkable to Spark Transformation in Your Business, which became a business bestseller.[1]

In September 2012, Williams joined the NYU Stern School of Business, where he serves as Adjunct Associate Professor of Marketing.[2] He is also the founder and Executive Director of the school’s W. R. Berkley Innovation Labs.

In 2014, he was named one of GQ Australia’s Men of the Year.[3]

Williams is also an inventor listed on more than 30 U.S. patents and has designed more than 100 products in industries ranging from transportation and finance to health care and consumer electronics.[4]

In addition to his work in academia, Williams speaks internationally on disruption and innovation in business.

Research & Writing

Williams’s research and writing focus on innovation strategy, entrepreneurship, and disruptive thinking in business contexts.[5] His writing and views have been featured in publications such as Fast Company, The Atlantic, Bloomberg Businessweek, and NPR.

Williams has written about how leaders can identify industries susceptible to disruption [6] and the role of leadership in innovation.[7] In addition, Williams has explored the intersection of design and entrepreneurship.[8]
