  • Comment: This article currently has several small issues that do not impact notability, but should be fixed. The title currently seems to be a direct translation from the French one, even though this office is called the Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland in English [1]; I suggest following that official name. I don't see why the German name (Bundesanwaltschaft) isn't listed either. The Rudolf Gerber linked cannot have been a Swiss Attorney General in the 70s, because by that point he was (according to that article) dead; I suggest removing the link. "offenses" is linked twice in close proximity (overlinked) and points to a disambiguation page (both are small issues, but worth paying attention to in future). Citations should go after punctuation (again, a small issue). Citing "certain special federal laws..." to several laws rather than secondary sources verges on improper synthesis/original research. I am also baffled as to why the basic fact that this office is subordinate to the Federal Department of Justice and Police remains uncited; this could even be cited to the official website without issue. The Federal Prosecutor's Office of Switzerland, or Ministère public de la Confédération (MPC) is the Swiss federal investigative and public prosecuting body. It is responsible for prosecuting certain types of offenses directed against the federal state, as well as complex proceedings concerning international or economic crime:[1][2]. It operates under the Federal Department of Justice and Police.

Types of offenses prosecuted

The Swiss Criminal Procedure Code lists the offenses prosecuted by the Federal Prosecutor's Office[2]. These include offenses against federal magistrates and officials, prohibited intelligence service activities, counterfeiting, offenses involving explosives, and violations of the federal law on war material[2].

Additionally, certain special federal laws grant jurisdiction to the Federal Criminal Court[3][4][5][6][7][8].

Attorneys General

Since the establishment of the Swiss Confederation in 1848, the Confederation has had an Attorney General. Originally appointed by the Federal Council, this magistrate has been elected by the Federal Assembly since 2011[9][10]. The following individuals have held this position[11]
