Doubao (Chinese: 豆包) is an artificial intelligence assistant developed by ByteDance, the technology company best known for creating TikTok. Launched in August 2023, Doubao functions as a conversational AI designed to understand and generate human-like text responses.

History

By November 2024, it had become China's most popular AI chatbot with approximately 60 million monthly active users according to industry analytics.:^[1]
