Die 21. Fußball-Afrikameisterschaft 1998 (Afrika-Cup oder englisch: African Cup of Nations) fand vom 7. Februar bis 28. Februar 1998 in Burkina Faso statt. Es war das erste Mal, dass der Kontinentalwettbewerb in diesem westafrikanischen Staat stattfand. Das Gastgeberteam konnte mit einem vierten Platz seinen größten Erfolg feiern. Afrikameister wurde zum vierten Mal das Team Ägyptens. Mit dem Turnier wurde bewiesen, dass auch wirtschaftlich schwächere Länder Afrikas dieses Großereignis austragen können. Maskottchen war ein Fußball mit Gesicht und einem typischen Hut der Bewohner des Landes.

Die Spiele wurden in Ouagadougou (Stade du 4-Août, Stade Municipal de Ouagadougou) und Bobo-Dioulasso (Stade Omnisports de Bobo-Dioulasso) ausgetragen.
