Sir David Edmond Neuberger PC, QC (born 10 January 1948) is a British judge and barrister.

The son of Prof. Albert Neuberger, brother of Prof. James Neuberger, Prof. Michael Neuberger, and Prof. Anthony Neuberger, and the brother-in-law of Julia Neuberger was educated in Westminster School and Christ Church, Oxford, where he graduated with a Master of Arts.

Career

Called to the Bar, Lincoln's Inn in 1974, he became a Queen's Counsel in 1987 and a bencher in 1993. From 1990 to 1996, Neuberger was Recorder and from 1996 to 2004 Judge of the High Court, Chancery Division. In 2001, he was made Supervisory Chancery Judge of Midland, Wales and Chester, and of the Western Circuits, a post he held until 2004, when he was appointed Lord Justice of Appeal and Member of the Privy Council. Since 1997, he is Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Spoliation of Art during the Holocaust.

On 13 December 2006, it was announced that he will replace the Lord Nicholls of Birkenhead as Lord of Appeal in Ordinary on 10 January 2007. His rise to the Court of Appeal and then to the Lords is one of the quickest in recent times. He will be the youngest Law Lord.[1]
