Plot sampling

Plot sampling is a method of abundance estimation. Generally plot sampling assumes that each survey will identify all of the animals in the survey region. From this, plots are selected from the entire survey region and sampled, an estimate can then be made using the Horvitz–Thompson estimator. This is a useful method if it is certain that all of the animals in the sample area will be sighted on a given survey.
