This entire article appears to be written from the perspective of a single vendor. Using terminology that the vendor first introduced to market its product.

At the same time, the term "Workspace virtualization" has taken on new meaning since this article ceased active development [1] I have to state up front that the article I'm citing here is my own, but I'm not alone in having this perspective, I can cite other sources if preferred.

Advantages and disadvantages

This section is written based on the incorrect assumptions that

  1. application virtualization does not allow inter app communication
  2. desktop virtualization = VDI
