Eventfinda aggregates event information across a wide spectrum of sources into a single destination website. The website covers all genres, and is not limited to a specific category or type of event, and enables event organizers to list and promote events of any size through the website for free. The website also enables event promoters, venues and artists to create and manage their own online ticket sales. The platform's API enables third parties to connect with the events database to display events in other media. The company has offices in Auckland, New Zealand and San Francisco, CA[1].

Founders

Eventfinda was founded by Michael Turner in Auckland, New Zealand in July 2005[2]. After creating the business strategy and developing a working prototype, the website was launched on January 23rd 2006. In April 2006 James McGlinn joined the company as Co-Founder and CTO, rebuilding the platform using Symfony[3].

Countries

The website was first launched in New Zealand as Eventfinder on the URL eventfinder.co.nz in January 2006. In 2009 the company licensed the platform to Medienhaus, an Austrian media company, and was launched under the brand Wohintipp on the the URL wohintipp.at, as the ccTLD for Eventfinder in Austria was already registered. In July 2011 the company launched the platform in Australia[4] under the brand Eventfinder on the URL eventfinder.com.au as the company had owned the domain since inception. In December 2011 the license to operate the platform in Australia was acquired by Peer Group Media.

As the company expanded in 2012 a new brand was created, as many ccTLD's for Eventfinder were already registered. The company changed its name to Eventfinda and registered all available gTLD's and ccTLD's ensuring continuity of brand and URL across countries. In 2012 Eventfinda launched the platform in the United States[5] on the URL eventfinda.com and Singapore[6] on the URL eventfinda.sg.

Products

Eventfinda has two principle products — the consumer facing websites, and Eventfinda Pro, which enables event organizers, promoters, venues and artists to list, promote and ticket their events. Eventfinda Pro allows anyone to list their event for free irrespective of which ticketing service provider they use. Ticketing services are optional, and enable promoters to sell tickets to simple events with a single price point, through to complex events spanning multiple days and tiered price points. In 2011 Eventfinda Pro won Best User Experience at New Zealand's Internet industry awards, known as the Onya's[7] .

Partnerships

Eventfinda has been syndicating event content since 2006[8]. The company is the exclusive provider of syndicated event information to Yahoo! NZ[9], MSN NZ, Fairfax[10] and the New Zealand Herald[11]. Eventfinda's API enables third parties such as tourism operators, media outlets, councils and municipalities to access the events database and display event information across a range of media including web, mobile and print.
