Compute Node Linux (CNL) is a runtime environment based on the Linux kernel for the Cray XT3, Cray XT4 and Cray XT5 supercomputer systems based on the SLES Linux distribution. CNL forms part of the UNICOS/lc operating system from release 2.0 onwards (UNICOS/lc was later renamed Cray Linux Environment). As of November 2008 systems running CNL are ranked 2nd, 7th and 8th among the fastest supercomputers. [1]
