Climate and ESG Assurance Network (CEAN Global) is an independent assurance body[3] and management consulting firm specializing in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and climate finance.[4] The company is headquartered in Singapore and has operations in Dhaka, Bangladesh.[5]

CEAN Global's stated purpose is to provide verification for investors, banks, and corporations by translating international sustainability standards into practical applications for the local market.[6]

In October 2025, CEAN Global signed a strategic partnership with Community Bank Bangladesh PLC to provide services related to green banking, climate risk management, and sustainable finance.[7][8]

Services

CEAN Global's services are focused on ESG and sustainable finance. The company divides its operations into four main areas:[9]

  • ESG and Climate Assurance: This service involves the independent verification of corporate sustainability claims. It is applied to companies, projects, funds, and financial instruments. Specific offerings mentioned in independent sources include Second Party Opinions (SPOs) and digital measurement, reporting and verification (MRV).[10]
  • ESGC Audit: This involves detailed audits of an organization's internal processes and data related to Environment, Social, Governance, and Climate (ESGC). Examples of audits offered include carbon and GHG audits, water audits, labor rights and workplace condition audits, and corporate governance audits.
  • ESG Guidance and Advisory: This branch functions as a consultancy to prepare organizations for external assurance. It assists companies in developing reporting frameworks aligned with international standards, such as the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards and TCFD.
  • Standards & Licensing: CEAN Global develops and provides training programs for professionals, auditors, and corporate teams on ESG assurance, emissions verification, and materiality assessment.

Assurance Framework

The company's methodology is based on four pillars: Environment, Social, Governance, and Climate. Its framework incorporates principles from international bodies such as the International Capital Market Association (ICMA) and the Climate Bonds Standard, as well as standards from the IFRS.[11]

CEAN Global maintains offices in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and Singapore.[12] The company has a public partnership with Community Bank Bangladesh PLC.[13]

The President and chair of the Board is Professor Dr. Suborna Barua.[14] Barua is also a professor and chairman of the Department of International Business at the University of Dhaka.[15] His other board roles have included serving as Chairman of Republic Insurance Company Limited, an Independent Director at Janata Capital and Investment Limited, and Chairman of the Investment Corporation of Bangladesh (ICB).[16]
