3 Sided Cube is a United Kingdom–based software development company that designs and builds digital products for humanitarian, environmental, and social impact organisations.[1] The company is known for creating mobile applications for clients including the American Red Cross, The Virtual Doctors, and the British Geological Survey.

History

3 Sided Cube was founded in 2009 in Bournemouth, England, by Duncan Cook.[2] The company began as a small web-development studio and later adopted a "tech-for-good" focus as well as extra services of app and AI workflow development.They mainly partner with humanitarian and environmental organisations to create digital tools for a variety of purposes from disaster response to healthcare.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, 3 Sided Cube collaborated with charities and local organisations to provide digital solutions supporting community response and volunteering efforts.[3]

Notable projects

In 2014, 3 Sided Cube partnered with the American Red Cross to develop the Blood Donor App, which enables users to schedule and manage blood donations. The application surpassed one million downloads and was recognised by industry media for its public-service impact.[4] The app subsequently received a Webby Award in the Public Service & Activism category.[5]

In collaboration with the UK-based charity The Virtual Doctors, the company developed a telemedicine platform connecting rural clinicians in sub-Saharan Africa with volunteer doctors in the United Kingdom. The project received the 2024 Gold Lovie Award for Apps, Platforms & Software – General.[6][7]

3 Sided Cube’s earlier work includes the Disaster Alert and Flood Alert apps, recognised for improving public preparedness during natural disasters.[8]
