Besides the lack of heierarchical file system, the other reason for using a PDS is to save disk space. Since PS data sets are allocated in tracks, it is inefficient for small data sets. The has been especially useful for TSO and WYLBUR, which make it especially convenient to store text data in PDSes. Gah4 (talk) 07:27, 1 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
