Sargodha (سرگودھا) is a city in the Punjab province of Pakistan. It is the administrative center of Sargodha District and part of the larger Sargodha Division. Founded in 1903, Sargodha is one of the major cities in the Punjab region and has a population of 643,160 according to the 2017 Pakistan Census, making it the 31st most populous city in Pakistan. The city is known for its educational institutions, including the University of Sargodha.

Sargodha is located at 32°5′1″N 72°40′16″E / 32.08361°N 72.67111°E / 32.08361; 72.67111 and covers an area of 12.4 square kilometers. It has an elevation of 191 meters above sea level.

Demographics

The population of Sargodha is ethnically diverse, with the majority of the residents being Punjabi and Saraiki, while other ethnic groups, such as Pashtuns, Muhajirs, Sindhis, and Balochis, are also present. The city's population practices Islam as the predominant religion.
