Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
Appearance
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request a technical move below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
- Please make sure you really need technical assistance before making a request here. In particular, if the target page is a redirect back to the source page that has only one revision, you can usually move the page normally.
- To list a technical request: the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
- To request a reversion of a recent undiscussed move: Review the guidelines at WP:RMUM of whether a reversion of an undiscussed move qualifies as uncontroversial and if so, the Requests to revert undiscussed moves subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page. Note that in some cases, clerks, such as administrators or page movers may determine that your request for a reversion does not pass the criteria and may move the request to the contested section or open a formal requested move discussion for potentially controversial moves on your behalf.
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
- If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page. A bot will automatically remove contested requests after 72 hours of inactivity.

Uncontroversial technical requests
- St. Paul Lutheran High School (Missouri) (currently a redirect to St. Paul Lutheran High School) → St. Paul Lutheran High School (move · discuss) – Target title turned into a DAB unnecessarily, but the second entry is now housed in a hatnote in the original title. Intrisit (talk) 09:10, 8 October 2023 (UTC)
- Minnesota State High School League → MSHSL (currently a redirect back to Minnesota State High School League) (move · discuss) – No disambiguation connotation for this title, may not be common name, but it's more precise! Intrisit (talk) 09:10, 8 October 2023 (UTC)
- Striated surgeonfish (currently a redirect to Ctenochaetus striatus) → Ctenochaetus striatus (move · discuss) – This species is called Lined bristletooth by the Australian Museum and Fishes of Australia, Striped bristletooth by the IUCN, Striated surgeonfish by Fishbase, no clearly agreed common name so use binomial Quetzal1964 (talk) 15:08, 7 October 2023 (UTC)
- Sturgeon Falls, Ontario (currently a redirect to Sturgeon Falls) → Sturgeon Falls (move · discuss) – There is already a redirect, so there is no point in adding the province name. When I added it, I had assumed there was another place called Sturgeon Falls elsewhere, but I can't find it. The only other thing it could be confused with is Sturgeon Falls (electoral district), but the "Ontario" disambiguation wouldn't change that anyway. Sammyrayy (talk) 22:58, 6 October 2023 (UTC)
- This request is reasonable, but there are some other articles that might have an impact on whether the move is viable. In addition to Sturgeon Falls (electoral district), I also found Sturgeon Falls Education Crisis and Sturgeon Falls 23. There also some redirects involving junior hockey teams from the area that later changed their names. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 13:36, 7 October 2023 (UTC)
- If the title is indeed ambiguous, then Sturgeon Falls should be a disambiguation page, not a primary redirect. For the record, I agree with OP. I've added a hatnote to Sturgeon Falls 23; that should be sufficient. 162 etc. (talk) 16:26, 7 October 2023 (UTC)

- Secondary Professional School in Stará Turá, Slovakia (currently a redirect to Secondary Industrial School in Stará Turá, Slovakia) → Secondary Industrial School in Stará Turá, Slovakia (move · discuss) – It seems like the "industrial" ("priemyselná") is a more correct name after 1 September. Both articles were created by the same user Aaa000000 and the same IP-user 85.237.234.92 (probably the IP belongs to Aaa000000) redirected "professional" to "industrial" both here and in Slovak Wikipedia. The official website of the school also tells that it was renamed (to "priemyselná"). Maybe "Technical" would be even more correct translation, but I don't know about that Oloddin (talk) 04:45, 8 October 2023 (UTC)
- WVCW (FM) → WVCW (move · discuss) – New station calls for what was formerly WJBR; article formerly under this title which did not use FCC-issued calls has been moved to WVCW (Virginia Commonwealth University) to facilitate this move. Nate • (chatter) 23:36, 7 October 2023 (UTC)
- Gerry Anderson's Gemini Force One (currently a redirect to Gemini Force One) → Gemini Force One (move · discuss) – WP:CONSISTENT – Lavender Castle isn't "GA's Lavender Castle", and Space Precinct isn't "GA's Space Precinct", even though their title cards include the possessive 92.24.230.78 (talk) 12:32, 8 October 2023 (UTC)92.24.230.78 (talk) 12:32, 8 October 2023 (UTC)

- Pillow Talk (Miki Howard album) → Pillow Talk (album) (currently a redirect instead to Pillow Talk (disambiguation)#Albums) (move · discuss) – No other album by this title per WP:ALBUMDAB JohnCWiesenthal (talk) 00:25, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
- The disambiguation seems appropriate, as there are two other albums by that name. Dicklyon (talk) 05:12, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
- This is the only one with an article though; WP:ALBUMDAB advises us not to keep the extra disambiguation. 162 etc. (talk) 08:23, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
- Since this is probably gonna be taken to RM, support per 162 etc. CLYDE TALK TO ME/STUFF DONE 22:18, 7 October 2023 (UTC)

- Meta Quest 3 → Quest 3 (move · discuss) – WP:Primary and WP:Concise, conform with Quest 2 article Ng.j (talk) 21:08, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
- Quest 3 → Quest 3 (disambiguation) (currently a redirect back to Quest 3) (move · discuss) – Move current disambiguation page to allow for primary topic move Ng.j (talk) 21:11, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
- @Ng.j: These are considered WP:PCMs. Quest 3 has been moved from the disambiguation before, and primary topic usurps have a high potential for controversy or contesting. Please click the discuss button to open a formal WP:RM. Once you've done that, or if you do not wish to continue, please remove your request. Thanks! Sennecaster (Chat) 21:52, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
- 8AM in Charlotte → 8am in Charlotte (move · discuss) – The "AM" part is not capitalized. Source: https://tidal.com/artist/3632070 (go to track 17). I think this is an easy case. 23.134.91.240 (talk) 11:00, 6 October 2023 (UTC)
- A google search comes back with mostly capitalized results. Bensci54 (talk) 16:50, 6 October 2023 (UTC)
- Appendix (anatomy) → Vermiform appendix (currently a redirect back to Appendix (anatomy)) (move · discuss) – rPer WP:NATURAL, which says that even if a term is less common, as long as it's somewhat commonly used, it's preferred over a common but vague term that requires disambiguation. Invinciblewalnut (talk) 12:56, 6 October 2023 (UTC)
- The previous RM makes this WP:PCM. Use the normal discussion process. Mdewman6 (talk) 18:25, 6 October 2023 (UTC)
- Daniella Perkins (currently a redirect to Daniella Taylor) → Daniella Taylor (move · discuss) – Daniella has changed her name Justinletterasst (talk) 19:38, 6 October 2023 (UTC)
- @Justinletterasst: Daniella Perkins appears to be her WP:COMMONNAME. It's the name under which she is credited in her work and by which she is referred in references. It's also the main name on her Youtube channel, so she doesn't seem to have stopped using Perkins. See WP:NAMECHANGES WP:SPNC. This would require a requested-move discussion (and some supporting evidence). SilverLocust 💬 21:07, 6 October 2023 (UTC)
- Daniella Taylor should probably be a redirect at least. -Kj cheetham (talk) 19:15, 7 October 2023 (UTC)

- Electric light → Electric lamp (currently a redirect back to Electric light) (move · discuss) – Article is about a lamp (the device), not about light (the phenomenon); significant source of confusion. Kehkou (talk) 22:28, 7 October 2023 (UTC)
- I believe this was recently at TR and not moved. In any case, it is plausibly controversial. Use the "discuss" link to start a normal RM discussion.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Mdewman6 (talk • contribs) 03:09, October 8, 2023 (UTC)
- This is not uncontroversial, I oppose it. Click the "discuss" link and remove your request here if you want to continue. Polyamorph (talk) 07:04, 8 October 2023 (UTC)
