Morfologia

• Tenen dues aletes dorsals, l'anterior de les quals té 9 radis espinosos.
• Els flancs són argentats.
• La bufeta natatòria no es troba comunicada amb el budell.

Hàbitat

Viuen en aigües dolces i salades.
