Samantha "Sam" Horton ([[Jennifer Love Hewitt]]), a former [[Texas]] beauty queen, mother of three kids, and unemployed massage therapist struggles with financial difficulties and the threat of [[foreclosure]] on her home when she becomes broke. Her husband, Rex ([[Teddy Sears]]), a former football player, is suffering from knee complications and cannot work. Sam desperately starts looking for a job and when she applies for one at a massage parlor, she discovers the masseuses who work there are actually [[prostitutes]] serving prominent members of society. <br />

At first, Sam refuses the job offer, but after one night when she is unable to pay for gas, she realizes how badly her family needs money. Seeing that she has no other options left, Sam reluctantly accepts the position. She begins working under the false name "Brandy". Lying to her husband, her mother ([[Cybill Shepherd]]) and her friends about the real nature of her job, Sam starts bringing in a lot of money and is able to shower her family with luxuries they had never been able to enjoy before. In addition to the abundant money, Sam soon becomes the most popular prostitute among the clients and her clients begin to give her high-class gifts such as real gold and diamond jewelry. <br />

Sam takes on more and more hours while Rex takes on a job as an exterminator and expresses concerns about the hours she has been working, though Sam insists she is fine. Feeling exhausted and guilty, and at the suggestion of one of her favorite clients, Sam turns to [[cocaine]] to cope with what she is doing and soon becomes addicted. When a fellow prostitute sees that a local [[pastor]] is to be her next client, she decides she can no longer do the job. The young woman then tells the minister about the massage parlor, saying she feels God wants her to expose them. <br />

The police are alerted to the business and raid the place. Sam, her coworkers and some of their clients are charged with prostitution, and Sam is also charged with drug possession when the police find her cocaine. A horrified Rex learns from the television news that Sam was one of the prostitutes arrested, and despite Sam's attempts to repair her broken marriage, Rex moves out with their children. Sam becomes distressed and heartbroken about her actions, but unable to bear the thought of a life without him.<br />

A lawyer friend helps her and the other former prostitutes to negotiate a reduced sentence in exchange for testifying against the clients they all served. After the trial, they all go to jail for only 30 days. Upon her release, some local women visit Sam and ask her for advice on rekindling the excitement in their own relationships, happily surprising Sam that they have forgiven her for her mistake. Sam later becomes a waitress, and it is revealed that some things have smoothed over with her now-separated husband. Sam also goes back to school, finally beginning to move past her mistakes. <br />

On her birthday, Sam finally gets to spend time with her children and reconciles with her mother. Rex, also present, talks with her, hinting that he is willing to try and repair their relationship, albeit at a cautious pace.<br />
