Electrostar is the name given to a series of related electric multiple-unit (EMU) passenger trains manufactured by Bombardier Transportation (formerly ADtranz) at their Litchurch Lane Works in Derby, England. Since the privatisation of British Rail, it has become the most common new EMU type in Britain, where different variants referred to as Class 357, Class 375, Class 376, Class 377, Class 378, Class 379 and Class 387, are most common on the high-volume suburban commuter routes in South, North and East London, and mainline services south to Surrey, Sussex, Kent & South Essex coasts and north to Cambridge and Stansted Airport . It shares the same bodyshell and core structure as the Turbostar, which is in turn the most common post-privatisation diesel multiple unit (DMU) family, and both evolved from the Class 168 Clubman design by ADtranz.<br />
<br />
The Clubman/Turbostar/Electrostar platform is a modular design, which share the same basic design, bodyshell and core structure, and is optimised for speedy manufacture and easy maintenance. It consists of an underframe, which is created by seam-welding a number of aluminium alloy extrusions, upon which bodyside panels are mounted followed by a single piece roof, again made from extruded sections. The car ends (cabs) are made from glass-reinforced plastic and steel, and are huck-bolted onto the main car bodies. Underframe components are collected in ‘rafts’, which are bolted into slots on the underframe extrusion. The mostly aluminium alloy body gives light weight to help acceleration and energy efficiency.<br />
<br />
The Electrostar was also selected for use on the Gautrain system in South Africa, a new railway between Johannesburg, Pretoria, and the Johannesburg International Airport. The trains were assembled by UCW Partnership in South Africa from components made in Derby.<br />
<br />
Transport for London (TfL) announced in August 2006 that it had ordered 48 three- and four-car Electrostar trains for the new London Overground service. These were categorised by Network Rail as Class 378, and entered service in 2009 to replace the Class 313 and Class 508 on the North London Line and West London Line, and to provide the opening service on the new East London line extension from 2010.<br />
<br />
In 2009, as part of the government's wider rolling stock plan, an order was placed for thirty four-car Class 379 Electrostar units intended for use by National Express East Anglia (now operated by Abellio Greater Anglia) on the Stansted Express and West Anglia services. The first of the new Class 379 units entered passenger service on Thursday 3 March 2011 running the 20:10 Stansted Express from London Liverpool Street to Stansted Airport and the 21:15 return service.<br />

<br />
c2c uses Class 357 units on services down the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway line from Shoeburyness and Southend to London Fenchurch Street.<br />
<br />
===Southeastern===<br />
<br />
<br />
The Class 375 is the backbone of Southeastern's long distance routes, seeing services on most of its lines originating from its London termini (London Victoria, Charing Cross, Cannon Street and London Bridge) including;<br />
*Chatham Main Line<br />
**Maidstone East Line<br />
*Medway Valley Line<br />
*South Eastern Main Line<br />
**Hastings Line<br />
**Ashford to Ramsgate (via Canterbury West) line<br />
**Kent Coast Line<br />
*North Kent Line<br />
<br />
On the outer suburban portions of these above routes, Class 465/9 Networkers support the Electrostars, but they do not work in multiple together.<br />
<br />
<br />
The Class 376 operates on the metro routes in suburban London, in conjunction with the Class 465 and Class 466 Networkers, operating over the London portion of the above lines from the London Termini (including Blackfriars) out to Dartford and Sevenoaks);<br />
<br />
*North Kent Line (to Dartford)<br />
*Bexleyheath Line (to Dartford)<br />
*Dartford Loop Line (to Dartford)<br />
*Chatham Main Line (to Sevenoaks)<br />
*Maidstone East Line (to Sevenoaks)<br />
*South Eastern Main Line (to Sevenoaks)<br />
*Hayes Line<br />
<br />
This leaves the Bromley North Line and Sheerness Line, both operated by Class 466s (2 car Networkers) which also used to operate on the Medway Valley Line prior to the May 2012 Timetable Changes.<br />
<br />
===Southern===<br />
<br />
Southern's Class 377 fleet is found on all parts of the network apart from the non-electrified routes. They also now run frequently in metro routes alongside the Class 455s and used to run alongside the Class 456s until their transfer to South West Trains in 2014.<br />

<br />
===London Overground===<br />
<br />
London Overground operates Class 378s over five lines around London:<br />
*North London Line (Richmond–Stratford)<br />
*West London Line (Clapham Junction–Stratford)<br />
*Watford DC Line (Euston–Watford)<br />
*East London Line (Clapham Junction/Crystal Palace/New Cross/West Croydon–Highbury & Islington via Canada Water)<br />
<br />
The sixth major route it's responsible for is the unelectrified Gospel Oak to Barking Line. For this, London Overground obtained Class 172 Turbostar DMUs.<br />
<br />

From March 2009 First Capital Connect (now Thameslink) ran 23 x 4 car Class 377's on the Thameslink Bedford to Brighton route, this increased to 26 x 4 car Class 377's in late 2011. This arrangement has continued since the franchise transferred to Govia Thameslink Railway in September 2014.<br />
<br />
*Thameslink, Bedford to Brighton<br />
*Thameslink, Bedford to Ashford International/Gillingham/Bearsted/Rochester peak only services. (These services are jointly run by Govia Thameslink Railway and Southeastern with services north of Blackfriars operated by Thameslink and south by Southeastern - until December 2014 when Thameslink took over the whole route)<br />

===Gautrain (South Africa)===<br />
On 8 June 2010, the route between Sandton and OR Tambo International Airport in South Africa opened in time for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The rest between Johannesburg Park Station and Rosebank was to be completed in 2011. This section was actually opened 7 June 2012, the delay caused by work to resolve a water-seepage problem in the single-track tunnel section between Rosebank and Park. Although railways in South Africa use the Cape gauge, Gautrain is built to the more expensive standard gauge of sg. According to the Gautrain planning and implementation study, this is done for several reasons, including that standard gauge is safer and more comfortable to passengers. The rolling stock is also easier, quicker and less expensive to obtain than Cape Gauge rolling stock, and standard gauge is also less expensive to maintain as it is more tolerant of track imperfections than Cape Gauge. Standard gauge allows for travel at Gautrain's required speed of 160 km/h.<br />

<br />
<br />
The Electrostar was also selected for use on the Gautrain system in South Africa, a new railway between Johannesburg, Pretoria, and the Johannesburg International Airport. The trains were assembled by UCW Partnership in South Africa from components made in Derby.<br />
<br />
<br />
In 2009, as part of the government's wider rolling stock plan, an order was placed for thirty four-car Class 379 Electrostar units intended for use by National Express East Anglia (now operated by Abellio Greater Anglia) on the Stansted Express and West Anglia services. The first of the new Class 379 units entered passenger service on Thursday 3 March 2011 running the 20:10 Stansted Express from London Liverpool Street to Stansted Airport and the 21:15 return service.<br />

c2c uses Class 357 units on services down the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway line from Shoeburyness and Southend to London Fenchurch Street.<br />
<br />
===Southeastern===<br />

<br />
The Class 375 is the backbone of Southeastern's long distance routes, seeing services on most of its lines originating from its London termini (London Victoria, Charing Cross, Cannon Street and London Bridge) including;<br />
*Chatham Main Line<br />
**Maidstone East Line<br />
*Medway Valley Line<br />
*South Eastern Main Line<br />
**Hastings Line<br />
**Ashford to Ramsgate (via Canterbury West) line<br />
**Kent Coast Line<br />
*North Kent Line<br />
<br />
On the outer suburban portions of these above routes, Class 465/9 Networkers support the Electrostars, but they do not work in multiple together.<br />
<br />
<br />
The Class 376 operates on the metro routes in suburban London, in conjunction with the Class 465 and Class 466 Networkers, operating over the London portion of the above lines from the London Termini (including Blackfriars) out to Dartford and Sevenoaks);<br />
<br />
*North Kent Line (to Dartford)<br />
*Bexleyheath Line (to Dartford)<br />
*Dartford Loop Line (to Dartford)<br />
*Chatham Main Line (to Sevenoaks)<br />
*Maidstone East Line (to Sevenoaks)<br />
*South Eastern Main Line (to Sevenoaks)<br />
*Hayes Line<br />
<br />
This leaves the Bromley North Line and Sheerness Line, both operated by Class 466s (2 car Networkers) which also used to operate on the Medway Valley Line prior to the May 2012 Timetable Changes.<br />
<br />
===Southern===<br />
<br />
Southern's Class 377 fleet is found on all parts of the network apart from the non-electrified routes. They also now run frequently in metro routes alongside the Class 455s and used to run alongside the Class 456s until their transfer to South West Trains in 2014.<br />

===London Overground===<br />
<br />
London Overground operates Class 378s over five lines around London:<br />
*North London Line (Richmond–Stratford)<br />
*West London Line (Clapham Junction–Stratford)<br />
*Watford DC Line (Euston–Watford)<br />
*East London Line (Clapham Junction/Crystal Palace/New Cross/West Croydon–Highbury & Islington via Canada Water)<br />
<br />
The sixth major route it's responsible for is the unelectrified Gospel Oak to Barking Line. For this, London Overground obtained Class 172 Turbostar DMUs.<br />
<br />
===Thameslink===<br />

<br />
<br />
===Gautrain (South Africa)===<br />

The aircraft involved was a 13 year-old Boeing 777-31H with the registration A6-EMW, msn 434. It had made its first flight on 7 March 2003, and was delivered new to Emirates on 28 March 2003. It had two Rolls-Royce Trent 892 engines.<br />

==Aircraft and crew==<br />
The aircraft involved was a 13 year-old Boeing 777-31H with the registration A6-EMW, msn 434. It had made its first flight on 7 March 2003, and was delivered new to Emirates on 28 March 2003. It had only been operated by one airline, Emirates. It had two Rolls-Royce Trent 892 engines, and had flown 57,000 hours, in 13,000 cycles, at the time of the accident. The crew had deadheaded to the origin airport earlier, followed by a 29-hour rest before the flight.<br />
<br />
==Flight==<br />
The approach and landing was normal from the ATC point of view, with no emergency declared according to ATC recordings at the time. The crew reported that they were going around, after which tower instructed them to climb to 4,000 feet, which was acknowledged by the crew. Shortly after, the tower instructed the next flight to go around and alerted emergency services. Wind shear was reported. Eyewitness accounts suggested that the gear was retracted during a failed go-around attempt.<br />
<br />
The accident occurred at 12:44 Gulf Standard Time (08:44 UTC). Footage was taken showing the plane skidding along runway 12L after striking the tarmac with its right wing. All 300 passengers and crew were safely evacuated. Reports were of a major fire and large amounts of black smoke on the runway. Photos of the plane on its belly, and evidence of those observing the flight, suggest the landing gear collapsed on landing or was up for the whole approach. Bras Basah MRT Station (CC2) is an underground Mass Rapid Transit station on the Circle Line in the Museum District of Singapore, surrounded by the Singapore Management University. This station opened on 17 April 2010.<br />
<br />
==History==<br />
The station's construction required the realignment of Bras Basah Road for 2 years before re-cladding of the Singapore Management University for another 2 years. This station was completed in April 2007 mainly due to the presence of Singapore Management University.<br />
<br />
The station was commissioned through the Marina Line Architectural Design Competition jointly organized by the Land Transport Authority and the Singapore Institute of Architects. The competition required no track record and is acknowledged by the industry as one of the best run competitions held in Singapore to date.<br />
<br />
In 2009, "Best Transport Building" was awarded to the designers at WOHA Architects at the World Architecture Festival.<br />
<br />
During the opening of the station on 17 April 2010, Transport Minister Raymond Lim, who officiated the opening, said : "The Circle Line will enhance the quality of commute for the public – connecting homes, workplaces and social and recreational destinations more quickly and seamlessly." He also added that the stations will connect commuters to the "doorsteps of major cultural destinations" like the Esplanade and Fort Canning.<br />
<br />
In addition, it won the Chicago Athenaeum and the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and International Architecture Awards in 2011. This station was 'featured' in Hellgate: London video game, when Windows Vista came out together.<br />
<br />
==Nearby buildings==<br />
The station is located near Singapore Art Museum, nearby to Waterloo Street and a few minutes walk to Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. It is also linked to the Singapore Management University and Plaza by the Park tower at concourse level, below Bras Basah Road.<br />
<br />
==Architecture==<br />
The station is 35 metres below ground and its island platform is located at basement 5. It was the deepest station from its opening until 22 December 2013 when the Downtown Line at Promenade MRT Station was completed. It is also the station with the longest escalator, at 41 metres which stretches from the ticket concourse to the transfer level and takes approximately one minute to travel.<br />
<br />
To let light into the station, a reflective pool of water with glass panels outside the Singapore Management University was created.<br />
<br />
A video work was commissioned for the Art in Transit for this station. It is presented in 29 units of sound and images, forming a narrative of an action figure caught in a Chain of Wonderful Underwater Adventures. It is displayed in the evening at the concourse level of the station.<br />

<br />
It serves the Singapore Sports Hub (which comprises the new National Stadium, the new Aquatic Centre, the new Kallang Wave Mall and the existing Singapore Indoor Stadium), Leisure Park Kallang and the Tanjong Rhu area. The station is named after the sport centres/stadiums in the vicinity. It is expected to have a high amount of passenger usage when there is a significant event in the Sport centres nearby. The station was designed by WOHA Architects that was awarded with the Design Of The Year of the President's Design Award 2010 for the station's design. This station is also within the vicinity of Kallang and Mountbatten stations.<br />
<br />
Since the opening of the Circle Line extension on 14 January 2012, trains from Marina Bay terminate at Platform A of this station during off-peak hours, proceed to perform a cross-over after the station and arrive at Platform B to return to Marina Bay.<br />

Trainspotting Live war eine überwiegend live übertragene Fernsehsendung der BBC Four, die vom 11. bis 13. Juli 2016 gesendet wurde.<br />
<br />

== Kritik und Kontroversen ==<br />
Ein Sprecher der BBC sagte, dass die Show in der Aufregung einer Liveübertragung einen Fehler gemacht habe (that „the show had made a mistake in the ‘excitement of a live broadcast’“).<ref>{{cite web | url=http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/07/13/bbc-admits-it-showed-five-month-old-live-footage-in-trainspottin/ | title=BBC admits it showed five-month-old 'live' footage in Trainspotting show | publisher=The Telegraph | accessdate=14.
